An incredible Ming Dynasty large Chinese cast bronze temple censer. A fudog (Chinese Imperial guardian lion) with upturned head and an open mouth sits atop the lid.  Well modeled details with high level of craftsmanship. Overall wonderful condition. Unusual large size indicates this censer would have been for a temple. The fu-dogs were thought to protect the building from harmful spiritual influences and harmful people that might be a threat. Stunning original patina with shades of greens, bronze and black pigment. Ming Dynasty: Late 17th - Early 18th Century Dimensions: 18 1/2" wide X 15: deep
