Beautiful Japanese antique 2 section kannon biraki isho tansu (chest with opening doors for clothing), made for the samurai class to store clothing, made with keyaki (elm) wood front with beautiful grain, sugi (cryptomeria) wood frame and kiri (paulownia) wood drawer interiors, deep reddish brown translucent lacquer finish, heavy iron hardware including elaborate cross bracing on upper section and large circular lock plate with crane mon in center, warabite shaped drawer pulls, interior of opening doors has two large drawers, bottom section has two large exterior drawers and a safe box in lower right corner also with extensive iron hardware, interior of safebox has 3 small interior drawers, comes with one key, Meiji Period.
