Japanese Antique All Keyaki Wood Choba Tansu
Wonderful Japanese antique choba tansu (merchant's chest), made all of keyaki (elm) wood with beautiful grain, medium brown translucent lacquer finish, bronze hardware with hirute shape drawer pulls on the top drawers and warabite shaped pulls on the bottom, top right hand sliding panel reveals 5 small interior drawers of different sizes made of hinoki wood with bronze drawer pulls that match the hirute pulls on the exterior, lovely joinery, keyaki (elm) horizontal bracing on sides and back, Meiji Period (1868-1912).
