Japanese Antique Sado Island Fune Tansu
Antique Japanese fune bako (ship merchant's safe box), made all of keyaki (elm) wood with original deep brown finish, heavy iron work including chrysanthemum shaped lock plate on upper drawer and large raised chrysanthemum buds in corners, locking bar ( with key) covers 5 smaller drawers of varying sizes, square shaped drawer pulls, Edo Period (late 18th century / early 19th century).
