Small Antique Japanese choba dansu (merchant's chest) with locking bar and safe box, made with keyaki (elm) wood with beautiful grain on front, reddish orange translucent lacquer on front, top and sides as well as the frame on the front are all lacquered black, safe box has 2 small interior drawers also of keyaki wood, iron hardware including square shaped drawer pulls, comes with key, Edo Period (learly 19th century).
