Beautiful vintage Japanese sodenashi (work vest) made with indigo sakiori (rag weave) cotton, woven with multicolor areas to create a lovely patchwork effect, edged in solid indigo cotton, reinforced along the back, sides, and back of the neck in sashiko stitching. These vests were traditionally worn by workers in mountainous regions.

Antique Japanese 3-section isho tansu (clothing chest) made with Kiri (paulownia) wood in original dark finish. The top section has two sliding doors with open storage shelf with three small drawers below. The middle section has three drawers, while the lowermost section has two larger drawers for storing clothing. Iron hardware decoration includes keyholes with cherry blossom motifs and unusual recessed handles.
