Balinese Polychrome Wood Carving of Singha
Balinese wood carving of Singha, one of the many Indonesian mythological creatures which serve as protective household figures. These creatures are inspired by brave heroes, beasts of magic, and ghoulish villains and immortalized by myths and fairy tales. Here we have Singha, the winged lion, with a small Singha underfoot. Carved with movable tail and very large ears, painted with color and gold pigments.
