Antique Japanese Gifu Choba
Beautiful merchant's or accountant's chest from the Gifu prefecture. Meiji period, 1868-1912. Wonderful mortison tennon joinery. The frame and surfaces are made of Keyaki wood, which is unusual. Forged iron hardware. Inset carrying handles on top. It measures 16" deep by 34.25" wide by 35" tall.

The middle section has a charming scene of a small child clapping with a kite and a small whild with a black and white cat. The drawer pulls are round. The middle section is covered by glass sliders. Japanese Art Deco Cha Tansu
Beautiful art deco Japanese Cha Tansu with sliding doors and drawers. The sliding doors have red and gold flowers. The middle section has a bamboo print on the back, the right side has asymmetrical shelve with a tray on the bottom shelf with a slatted rack. The interior has a red finish. The cabinets have inset rectangular handles. The drawers have low profile pulls. The piece is finished with a clay powder to highlight the grain pattern. It measures 52" tall, 36" wide, 13.5" deep
