Antique Japanese isho tansu (clothing chest) in two sections, made of kiri (paulownia) wood with kiri wood drawer interiors, top section has large drawer across top with medium drawer underneath and safe compartment on the right with a hinged door and two small interior drawers, bottom section has two large drawers, iron hardware including warabite shaped drawer pulls and round lock plates with raised mixed metal cranes and flowers, Meiji Period (1868-1912).

Antique Japanese Two Section Kiri Isho Tansu
Beautiful kiri wood two section tansu with hand forged iron hardware. There are five drawers the top section has three drawers, the bottom section has two large drawers. The drawers have rounded handles and round locks in the middle of the drawers. The sides of each section of the tansu have iron handles. The top section has an beautiful iron fastening. It measures 16.5" deep 34.75" wide 46.75" tall. Each section is 23.4" tall.
